Preparing for second round dressage, France 2007

I am 25 years old and am currently completing my Masters degree at Carleton University in anthropology, having completed my honours BSc at the University of Toronto. I currently continue riding, training, showing and buying/selling horses very successfully on a part time basis as I continue my studies.

SNRC Canada August 2006

I've been riding since the age of 10, and have done many different disciplines.  I started riding dressage, and later fell in love with eventing.  I spent several seasons working up to the one-star level and had the opportunity to compete in Kentucky after placing well in the Ontario Preliminary Championships.  Shortly after I had the opportunity to ride on the A circuit where I competed in the 1.20 jumpers and also qualified for the Royal Winter Fair in the Children's hunter division, where we won the hack and placed well over fences.  I then worked with my sponsor with several other sale horses and imports, competing in the jumpers as well as equitation classes. With my experience and the help of a wonderful sponsor and family, I have spent many summers working for others riding youngsters, catch riding, and exercising horses.  I have also been highly successful in selecting youngsters, from weanlings to four year olds, and bringing them along to competition where they have great success.

I have been lucky enough to work with some top equestrian professionals, and not only have lots of riding experience but am also well educated in all aspects of horse care and presentation.  I have trained young horses, taught lessons, successfully designed fitness and feeding programs for equine athletes, practiced preventative maintenance, and gained experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various injuries.  Additionally, I have acquired skills in assessing, presenting and marketing horses in various disciplines to which they are best suited.

Last summer I spent some time in Europe and competed in the SNRC in France, taking home the team gold.  Upon my return, I focused on bringing along my promising youngster Darrington who was extremely successful in the hunter ring this summer, rarely coming home without top placings.

During the winter I will be focusing on my studies as well as my riding here in Ottawa.  I am looking to delve further into a part time career with horses while I complete my thesis, with various projects including Anastasia K, who will begin preparations for her debut in the jumper development series next year.

I am currently available for riding at your farm or at competitions in the Ottawa area, and am very comfortable gently schooling and showing a green or naughty horse.  I may also be interested in helping bring along horses and riders on an individual basis.  If you have any questions or comments or are interested in a rider, please contact me.
